My life is a movie

Spoiler alert, it is not. I like to entertain myself with imaginations of what kind of a movie plot I would like my life to be. A rom-com would be amazing! It would be a girl-next-door type of story. A family with a boy my age would move in next door to our house and his room would be directly across mine which we discover on his first night in the neighborhood. We would then proceed to meet at primary school the next morning, become fast friends, and remain friends through high school until university separates us.

We’d have a big fight 2 years into uni and have no contact until graduation when our parents plan a joint graduation party which would obviously force us to start talking again. A year or so later we’ll realize we can’t live without each other and so starts our happily ever after. A blissful year-long relationship, a 6-month-long engagement, a destination wedding, and then twins, a boy and a girl. How things go after that is kind of a blur just like how rom-coms never show us what happens after the boy gets the girl.

If my life was really a movie plot at least I would be at liberty to tweak a few things. I would love to be in charge of how some things go which probably stems from my need to always be in control. If this was a movie plot I would go through some things and decide that they wouldn’t work in the movie and I’d then go ahead and remove them because I would be in charge.

As a coping strategy, I think I will resort to romanticizing what I can so I have some sort of control over this life thing. I will always maintain the main character energy because even though my life is not a movie plot that I can change on a whim I am the main character in the story that is Amy Rutendo.
